Engagement of Five Research Fellows
(Last date of submission of application – 25th April 2014)

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage five research fellows [02-Senior Research Fellows (SRFs) and 03-Junior Research Fellows (JRFs)] (Indian National only) for a period of six years for its research project titled “Tiger re-introduction and recovery programme in Panna Tiger Reserve and the landscape complex, Madhya Pradesh: Phase-II”. Applications for the above advertised positions are invited and only short listed candidates will be called for the interview which is likely to be held during the second week of June 2014. The details of the available position along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below:

Senior Research Fellows
Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science/Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/Biological Sciences/Veterinary Science/Social Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University and at least 2 years research experience after Post-Graduation.

Desirable Qualification: Prior experiences in (a) Radio-tracking of wild animals; (b) capture-recapture sampling involving camera traps; (c) Occupancy sampling; (d) socio-economic surveys; (e) Spatial analysis using Remote Sensing and GIS tools.

Junior Research Fellows
Essential Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/Botany/Zoology/Forestry/Life Science/Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/Biological Sciences/Veterinary Science/Social Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University.

Desirable Qualification: Interest and/or experience in (a) distance sampling for prey estimation; (b) Occupancy sampling; (c) study of animal behaviour including feeding habits; (c) capture-recapture sampling involving camera traps; (d) vegetation science; (e) socio-economic surveys; (e) habitat evaluation and monitoring.

GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Age of the candidate shall not be more than 28 years for the advertised position of JRF and 32 years for SRF as on Wednesday, 23rd April 2014. Upper age limit for SRF/JRF may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates  belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.
  2. The fellowship amount for the selected Senior Research Fellow is Rs. 14,000/- consolidated per month and Rs. 18,000/- in case of NET qualified candidate(s) for Research Fellows (UGC/CSIR).
  3. Selected candidate(s) for the advertised position of JRF will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 12,000/- per month as fellowship. In case of NET qualified candidates (UGC/CSIR) for Research Fellows, the selected JRF will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month.
  4. Duly filled-in applications in the prescribed format should be sent/submitted to the Research Coordinator, Wildlife Institute of India, P.O.
