ENRGLLMENT OF PERSONS AS APPRENTICES UNDER APPRENTICE ACT 1961 READ WITH
APPRENTICESHIP RULES 1992

1. The Naval Ship Repair Yard, Karwar invites application from ITI qualified persons from various trades for enrollment of Apprenticeship training under Apprentices Act – 1961 read with Apprenticeship Rules 1992. Total number of vacancies (47) in 10 designated trades. Distribution of vacancies is as under:

For One Year Training: – Fitter (05), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle) (08), Electronic Mechanic (08), Electrician (05), Machinist (03), Welder (02).

For Two Year Training: – Plumber (02), Carpenter (02), Sheet Metal Worker (07), Shipwright (Steel) (05).

2. Reservation of Vacancies is as under:
(a) For SC/ST : Vacancies for SC/ST candidates are reserved in accordance with Section 3A (1) and (2) of Chapter II of Apprentices Act-1961 read with schedule II A of Rule 5 of Apprenticeship Rules 1992.
(b) For OBC: Vacancies for OBC candidates are reserved in accordance with Section ‘3B’ (1) and (2) of Apprentices {Amendment} Act, 2007.
(c) For Physically Handicapped: 3% of vacancies for Apprenticeship training are reserved vide DGET Letter No. DGET- 46(24)/AP dated 23 Jul 1981 and Section 3.6.2 chapter III of Apprenticeship Training Manual.
(d) For Armed Forces : 3% of reservation for children of Armed Forcest and Ex-Servicemen vide DGET letter No. DGET-23(2)/87-AP dated 26 Mar 1987 and Section 3.6.3 chapter III of Apprenticeship Training Manual.

3. Eligibility Conditions: (a) Qualifications: Qualification required for Shipwright (Steel) is ITI fitter. All candidates are required to be Matric / Std X pass with a minimum of 50 % marks & ITI Examination in relevant trade with aggregate of 65% marks, (b) Age: Born between 05. Oct 93 to 05 Oct 2000. (Both the dates inclusive) The upper age limit relaxable by five years for SC/ST candidates, (c) Minimum Physical Standards: Height 150 Cms, Weight 45 Kgs., Chest expansion 5 Cms, Eye sight 6/6 to 6/9. Physical standards for physically handicapped person is as per Apprentices Act 1961 read in conjunction with Para 4 of Apprenticeship Rules 1992 regarding standard of physical fitness, (d) Previous Training: Candidates who have already undergone or currently undergoing Apprenticeship under Apprentice Act – 1961 in any Govt. /Public Sector/ Private Industrial Organisation are not eligible.

4. Stipend: Rs 2100/-, Rs. 2400/-, Rs. 2870/’- and Rs. 3100/- per month, depending on period of apprenticeship training (as applicable, as per Rule 11 of Apprentices Rules 1992).

5. Selection Procedure: Preliminary selection will be on the basis of marks obtained in Matric & ITI Examination. The candidates in the preliminary Merit list will be called for written test on 22 Jul 2014. Candidates placed in the merit list on the basis of marks obtained in written examination, result will be declared on same day and interview / medical test will be conducted on next following day. The written examination for candidates from Andaman & Nicobar Islands will be conducted at INS Jarawa, Port Blair. However, they are required to forward their applications to Karwar.

6. Applications: To be forwarded as per format given below addressed to The Officer-in- Charge, Dockyard Apprentice School, Naval Ship Repair Yard, PO: Naval Base, Karwar Karnataka – 581 308 so as to reach latest by 07 Jun 2014. The application should be accompanied with (a) Duly filled Hall Ticket (Two copies) (b) SSC/Matriculation Marks list and proof of Date of Birth (c) ITI Mark List (d) Community certificate (for SC/ST/OBC only) (e) Certificate of Physically Handicapped (if applicable) (f) Certificate from employer if son/daughter of Naval Civilian/ Defence Employee (g) Character Certificate (h) Oneself addressed stamped (Rs. 5/-) envelope of size 22 cms. x 10 cms. Applications received after due date and incomplete applications will be rejected and no further correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
