To achieve this exciting opportunity, BPCL is now looking for young, energetic, ambitious Graduate Engineers in the field of “Mechanical Engineering” & “Chemical Engineering” for the post of “Management Trainee”.

Mechanical & Chemical Engineers desirous of pursuing a career with BPCL are required to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2014).

Online applications for GATE-2014 commenced from 2nd September 2013 and close on 1st October 2013.

Qualification Full time, B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg)through AICTE/UGC approved Indian Universities / Institutes • Candidates should have passed the degree in first attempt.• Integrated Courses or courses with 5 year or more course duration would not be eligible for the position. Candidates in the final year of their engineering studies may also apply. However, they must fulfill the eligibility criteria in all respect w.r.t. educational qualification, percentage of marks, age, etc. and if such candidates are short listed for interview, they will have to submit documentary proof of having passed the degree examination with the prescribed percentage of marks.
Branch/ Specialisation Mechanical, Chemical • Excludes Automation /Production/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing/ Industrial Engineering* etc.

• The above exclusions are only indicative and not exhaustive.

Percentage of Marks • Candidates, belonging to General and OBC (Non- Creamy Layer/NCL) categories, should have secured minimum 60% marks in qualifying degree examination.• The applicable minimum percentage of marks for Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) /Persons With Disability (PWD) candidates is 50%.

• Candidates in the final year of engineering studies belonging to General and OBC (NCL) categories, should have secured minimum 60% marks( in aggregate upto last semester), relaxable to 50% for SC/ST/ PWD candidates.

Percentage of marks would be the aggregate of all semesters irrespective of the norms / system being followed in the institute/university.

Wherever CGPA/OGPA/DGPA or Letter Grade is awarded, its equivalent percentage of marks must be indicated in the application form as per norms adopted by University / Institute.

No rounding off percentage would be allowed.

Age as on 1.6.2014 • General Candidates: Maximum 25 years• OBC (Non Creamy layer): Maximum 28 years

• SC/ST: Maximum 30 years

• PWDs with degree of disability 40% or above : Age relaxation of 10 years

• Candidates domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989 : Age relaxation of 5 years

• Ex-servicemen & Commissioned Officers (including ECOs & SSCOs, subject to rendering minimum 5 years’ military service and fulfillment of other conditions prescribed by Government of India: Age relaxation of 5 years

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (NCL) & PWD categories will need to furnish valid caste certificates & PWD Certificates respectively as per the formats prescribed by Government of India.

For getting the benefits of reservation under OBC (NCL) category:

(i) The name of caste and community of the candidate must appear in the ‘Central list of other Backward Classes’

(ii) The candidates must not belong to creamy layer. The candidates need to furnish their OBC certificate as per the format prescribed by Government of India and it must not be more than 6 months old.

Emoluments:
• Candidates selected as “Management Trainee” would be placed in Job Group “A” on a basic salary of Rs. 24,900/- (Scale of Pay Rs. 24,900 – Rs. 50,500). In addition, Dearness Allowance (DA) based on IDA pattern is payable. House Rent Assistance, if applicable will vary based on the class of city of posting.
• The total emoluments at entry level for Management Trainees are presently Rs. 10.5 Lakhs per annum (approx. cost to company).

How to Apply

  • Register Online for GATE 2014. Register through any of the websites mentioned below from 2nd September 2013 to 1st October 2013.
  • Apply at www.bpclcareers.com for Openings at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited. On downloading the GATE-2014 admit card and receipt of GATE registration number, candidates need to apply online on BPCL’s website. The relevant link would be made available from 18th December 2013 on BPCL’s career website i.e www.bpclcareers.in. Candidates will require their GATE-2014 Registration Number for applying to BPCL. The registration number will appear on the GATE-2014 admit card which can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites of IISc and 7 IITs. No other number (for eg. GATE-2014 Application / online form no. etc) should be entered while applying to BPCL.
  • Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
  • Appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – 2014 (GATE-2014)

2. Candidates must have an active e-mail id, which must remain valid for at least next one year. All future communication with the candidates will take place through e-mail only.
3. Candidates should have relevant documents like percentage of marks obtained in the degree examination, degree certificate, date of birth, caste/disability certificate (if applicable), e-mail id etc. readily available with them before they commence the ONLINE application process. This information would be required at the time of filling-in the ONLINE application.
